The boardwalk of the St. Petersburg Pier now displays a full-scale replica of the Benoist Airboat, honoring the birthplace of the world’s first scheduled airline using winged aircraft.

The completed 16,000-pound stainless steel monument marks almost exactly 106 years since its original takeoff on January 1st, 1914.
